Care Guide
Most Rilomaro pieces are designed for special occasions and feature delicate construction—dimensional appliqués, lace overlays, sheer elements, embroidered detailing, and fluid woven fabrics. Because materials and techniques vary across our catalog, the care label sewn into each garment and any instructions listed on its product page always take priority over the general guidance below.
Check the Garment's Own Instructions First
Before any cleaning or storage decision, locate the care label inside the garment. It may specify a cleaning method, fabric content, or restrictions that differ from what you see here. If the product page includes a care section, follow that as well. When no label or page instruction is available, treat the piece as requiring professional handling.
Protecting Decorative Details
Many Rilomaro designs incorporate sculpted 3D floral appliqués, embroidered stems, scalloped lace edges, and sheer mesh overlays. These elements are attached by hand or machine stitching and can snag, flatten, or detach under pressure.
- Avoid pressing appliqués against hard surfaces when sitting or leaning.
- Keep jewelry, belts, and bag hardware away from lace and embroidered areas to prevent pulls.
- When handling sheer veil or overlay components, support the full length rather than gripping a single point.
- Do not fold ruched or gathered sections sharply; they may lose their intended shape.
Everyday Wear Precautions
Even for a single evening, friction and moisture can affect delicate fabrics.
- Apply perfume, hairspray, and deodorant before dressing to reduce contact with fabric.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade dyes on woven and lace materials.
- Be mindful of rough chair backs, car seatbelts, and textured walls that may snag lace or sheer layers.
- If the garment gets damp from rain or perspiration, let it air-dry flat in a shaded, ventilated space before storing.
Spot-Cleaning: A Cautious Approach
If a small stain appears and the care label does not prohibit gentle surface treatment:
- Blot—do not rub—with a clean, white, lint-free cloth to lift excess moisture.
- Dab the area lightly with a barely damp cloth using plain water only.
- Test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous inner seam before applying it to a visible area.
Stop and seek professional help if the stain involves oil, ink, dye transfer, or if it sits directly on a 3D appliqué, embroidered motif, or lace panel. Do not use bleach, strong solvents, or heat on unknown materials.
Storing Between Events
Proper storage preserves shape and prevents damage to embellishments.
- Hang garments on padded or satin-lined hangers to avoid shoulder marks and wire impressions.
- For pieces with structured bodices or heavy appliqués, support the weight evenly rather than relying on thin straps alone.
- Store in a breathable garment bag away from direct light, humidity, and items with hooks or rough textures.
- Do not compress ruched, pleated, or crinkle-textured fabrics under other items in a closet.
- Keep veils and detachable layers rolled loosely or hung separately to avoid creasing.
When to Choose Professional Care
Consider a specialist dry cleaner or garment repair service experienced with formalwear and embellished textiles if:
- The care label specifies dry cleaning only.
- A stain persists after one cautious blot.
- An appliqué, embroidered element, or lace edge has loosened or torn.
- The garment requires reshaping after storage compression.
Do not attempt to re-attach appliqués or repair lace with household adhesives or sewing unless you have experience with delicate textiles.
